May 21 2005 3:37PMUzbek riots dangerous for all Central Asia - Kulov
BISHKEK. May 21 (Interfax) - The recent riots in the Uzbek part of
the Fergana Valley pose a threat to the stability of the entire Central
Asian region, said acting Kyrgyz First Deputy Prime Minister Felix
Kulov.
Speaking with Kyrgyz recipients of U.S. charity program grants in
Bishkek on Saturday, Kulov described the Fergana Valley as the most
explosive region in Central Asia today.
"This is a densely populated territory, and there are serious
socioeconomic problems there. Any conflicts on any territory pose a
danger to the security of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan," Kulov
said.
